Perfect for new or experienced riders. You ride to the water fall and back again. The guides are so much fun and the whole trip is not nearly as structured as in North America. The horses are great, looked after and know where to go! Lol! The breaks for snacks and lunch are very comfortable and the food is delicious. When you arrive at the falls you will be totally impressed with the splendour of this place. The pool where you’ll swim is so refreshing not to mention welcoming after the ride and short hike in. Short hike but lots of steps and some steep spots. All worth the adventure!! And there are decent change rooms and washrooms facilities. I could go on and on but you get the picture. Be sure to were long pants and socks. The tack may be a bit dated by north americn standards but but you’re in Costa Rica. I would give this a 4.5 rating. Only because nothing is perfect. Lol! Absolutely loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat!

This was by far the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. It was my first horse back ride but it was by no means a tame trek! The terrain was rugged and mountainous, beautiful and thrilling. Our guides were helpful and professional. You get two magnificent views of the waterfall, from up high and down below, and get to hang out on the rocks and bask in awe. We hit the trail again, a different one this time, and our horses cross a deep river! We stop and get a free meal at the sanctuary and watch the greedy monkeys trying to hang out with us. The best day we’ve had in years.
